A Doctor Visit Horror!

Rising blood pressure

Long wait in the lobby

To pass time a nice keurig coffee selection

Beats Starbucks

The call came in

Hunting for a non-existent vein for blood work

Waiting again in the sub area

Nurse checking my vitals

Afraid to be sent right to the hospital next door

Taking to theย  exam room

Waiting again

How you feeling she asks?

Must be feeling great to be in here really

Next stop scheduling desk

Making sureย  scheduled for the right procedure

Trip to the pharmacy

Picking up not sure what and why

Oh my

Pharmacist suggesting writing a prescription

To make sure if I stop breathing

A nasal spray will be needed

Followed by a 911 call

Would I know I stopped breathing?

Needless to say

Walked out without this prescription

A trip back to the doctor is needed

Might be safer to stay home

With a trip to Starbucks instead

With my own doctor’s appointment looming, this post hit the mark…I agree, a visit to Starbuck’s is much better!

Your title hits the nail on the head…horror. ha. I have a Dr. visit coming up soon and my pressure hits the roof. I usually joke its the white coat syndrome.

I wonder if the high blood pressure was the reason for the doctor visit or the result of it, or both ๐Ÿ™‚ . I hope you feel better.

It was just a follow up visit and my blood pressure shoots up to the roof every time I am there knowing that the lab work is always challenging, they never seem to find a vein and I hate getting poked.

When I was a kid at naval hospitals, I’d almost faint or throw up every time I got blood drawn, especially if it took a while. As a young adult, I’d tell them I have to lie down for blood work. Over the years, it’s gotten less challenging but I still have to distract myself by talking, reciting a poem in my head, or singing. It seems there’s a lot of difference in skill level when it comes to getting blood. I hope next time it goes smoothly.

Will find out this coming Tuesday. Still bruised from the last visit and still did not get any blood. They have to train the tech. Some of them are good and some you know when they start tapping on your hand to find a vein, it is not going to end well.
